You may be surprised to learn which new areas are included in the 491 Regional Migration Visa. Starting 16 November 2019 the areas included in the 491 regional migration visa are changing the definition of regional Australia, which can mean good news for you!
The new definition of ‘regional’ for immigration purposes will open up Australian cities and regional zones, including two of the most exciting centres: Perth and the Gold Coast. As well as, Adelaide, Sunshine Coast, Canberra, Newcastle/Lake Macquarie, Wollongong, Illawarra, Geelong and Hobart. These areas will now be considered ‘cities and major regional centres’ opening up many new options for the dedicated 25,000 regional places and priority processing of 491 visa holders. The visa is a pathway to permanent residency in Australia once you’ve spent three years in the region.
Another added bonus is the regional occupations list has more jobs available then the non-regional lists.
